Hinting at the incitement of people by the foreign intelligence agencies to revolt he said that Afghanistan would soon have a government that would be nationally and internationally acceptable.In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan , Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said he was confident that formal talks between Afghan factions to form a new government would begin in the next few days after the complete withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.

He hoped that a government would soon be established in Kabul that would be acceptable to the people of Afghanistan and the international community.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said all parties realized that Afghan political leaders and the Taliban should hold formal talks to form a new government in Afghanistan.

He said that informal contacts were underway in this regard which would soon turn into formal talks.

He said that the Taliban had been saying in their statements that they did not want to impose the Islamic Emirate of their choice but would prefer the formation of a coalition government in consultation with all parties.

The head of Hezb-e-Islami has said that the enemies of peace do not want a stable and strong central government in Afghanistan, some foreign intelligence agencies are inciting the Afghan people to revolt.

To a question, he said that India should focus on its internal issues instead of issuing statements on the future of Afghanistan.

Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said that India should refrain from using Afghan territory against Pakistan to avenge the struggle of Kashmiris in its illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Despite the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul on August 15, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar is one of the leaders in Ashraf Ghani’s government who is in Kabul and has direct contact with the Taliban.

Taliban leader Anas Haqqani met Gulbuddin Hekmatyar two days ago. He also met former presidents Hamid Karzai and Abdullah Abdullah.

Details of Afghan political leaders’ meeting with the Taliban were not released to the media, but reports said government-building and maintaining peace in Afghanistan were discussed.

In September 2016, President Ashraf Ghani and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, the country’s former warlord, signed an Afghan peace agreement in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and the Afghan National Security Council (NSC) said the government would soon ask the United Nations to lift sanctions on him.

A statement issued by the UN Security Council later said that the UN committee had lifted the ban on Gulbuddin Hekmatyar.

Hekmatyar’s assets will no longer be considered frozen and no travel restrictions will be imposed on him, the statement said.
