Samsung has issued a press release saying their LPDDR5X DRAM will be used by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Mobile platforms.
The company says that the DRAM developed by them will increase the performance of ultra-high-res video recording and AI features in new flagship smartphones.
The LPDDR5X solution will extend the use of high-performance,
Samsung had developed the industry’s first 14nm-based LPDDR5X DRAM last November. Since then it has been working with Qualcomm Technologies that its 7.5 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) LPDDR5X can be used by Qualcomm on their Snapdragon mobile platform.
This LPDDR5X DRAM is 1.2 times faster than the 6.4Gbps LPDDR5 developed by them.
Samsung says this DRAM will improve the performance of mobile phone’s ultra-high-resolution video recording and improve the features of voice recognition, image recognition and natural language processing.
Furthermore, by adopting advanced circuit designs as well as dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS), LPDDR5X power consumption can be reduced by approximately 20%.
