Xiaomi presented Redmi K40S. It will be worth waiting for its premiere

On the occasion of the premiere of the next models in the Redmi K50 series, Xiaomi introduced another smartphone to the market, which is actually part of last year’s line. The Redmi K40S is, however, an interesting medium that offers a lot at an attractive price.

Last year’s Redmi K40 turned out to be a sales hit, as its sales exceeded 10 million units. No wonder that Xiaomi decided to launch a similar model on the market, together with the new K50 series.

Redmi K40S does not differ much in specification from Redmi K40

The K50S retains the strengths of its predecessor, while also bringing with it some significant improvements in terms of design and specifications. The CPU used has not changed. It’s still Snapdragon 870 supported by 6, 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of built-in memory. The battery has kept its 4500 mAh capacity, but Xiaomi has improved the charging, because instead of 33 W we now have 67 W, thus reducing the charging time from 52 minutes to 38.

The display has not changed either. The 6.67-inch AMOLED E4 panel offers a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 360 Hz. The display is covered with 5th generation Corning Gorilla Glass. Don’t forget about 8-bit color depth, MEMC technology, Dolby Vision, support for HDR10 + format and DCI-P3 color space support. The peak brightness is 1,300 nits and the global brightness is up to 900 nits.

The same as in the Redmi K50 and here the 20 Mpix selfie camera is placed on the front. On the back, Xiaomi has placed the same camera configuration – the main 48 Mpix (Sony IMX582), 8 Mpix ultra wide angle and 2 Mpix macro – but in the case of the main unit it was added optical image stabilization.

The biggest upgrade the Redmi K40S has received is the cooling system with a cooling area increased by 400%. This translates into greater gaming possibilities. Changes can also be seen in the design of the smartphone itself. The edges are sharper, less curved. The device is also thinner and lighter – it is 7.7 thin and weighs 1965 grams.

There was a fingerprint reader on the side, Wi-Fi 6, Dolby Atmos or NFC support on board. The smartphone works under the control of MIUI 13.
