Airstrikes in Kunar and Khost: Taliban Government Accuses Pakistan of Airstrikes in Afghanistan

The Afghan government’s Defense Ministry has accused Pakistani military jets of shelling parts of Afghanistan’s Kunar and Khost provinces on Saturday morning, causing heavy casualties.

Official sources in Pakistan have not commented on the incident, but various Taliban sources have told the BBC Pashto service that dozens of people have been killed and several others injured in Pakistani airstrikes in those provinces.

Pajhwok Afghan News has reported that Pakistani planes attacked the four villages of Mir Opar, Mandate, Kai and Shidi in the Spira district of Khost province near the Durand Line.

Officials of the Khost province said that the Pakistani aircraft bombed the Pesa Mila, and Mir Safar areas of the province on Friday night, Khaama Press reported.

Reports of these two news agency contradict each other.

The Taliban’s foreign ministry says it has summoned Pakistan’s ambassador to Kabul, Mansoor Ahmad Khan. Official sources in Pakistan have not commented on the incident.

The Taliban said they had told the Pakistani ambassador that “all military violations, including in Khost and Kunar, must be stopped and such incidents could lead to tensions between the two countries.

Mohsin Dawar, a member of the National Assembly from North Waziristan, told the National Assembly that jets had bombed the Pak-Afghan border area last night and that the incident should be investigated.

Who has shared these videos with Mohsin Dawar?

He also shared some videos with the BBC’s Humaira Kanwal in which some people were injured and apparently they are in a hospital and have been bandaged. However, the BBC could not independently confirm when and where the videos came from.

I searched Google News  to find a report on the incident but could not find a news item from any reliable source. It is clear that this news has been planted to malign Pakistan. However, involvement of high level leaders of Afghanistan government raises some serious questions.

A statement from this Pashtoon lawmaker confused our minds.. Mir Kalam Wazir is the Member of Provincial Assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PK-112 North Waziristan.
