Imran called ECP chairman a planted agent of PMLN. It is a serious allegation. Does he have an evidence to substantiate his allegation? 

The war of words between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reached new heights on Thursday when former Prime Minister Imran Khan accused the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of taking “biased decisions” against his party. The Chief Election Commissioner  dismissed the PTI’s statement as a “deliberate attempt to defame the commission”.

According to the news reports the Chief Election Commissioner lamented that the impression was being given that decisions were being made by one person in the Election Commission of Pakistan. He added that  this allegation was contrary to the ground realities.

The  Chief Election Commissioner rejected the baseless allegations of the PTI chairman. He said that Election Commission is a constitutional body which makes all decisions in the light of the constitution and law.

The ECP chairman said that from January 2020 to date, all decisions have been taken by consensus and not a single decision has been written with a dissenting note.

The Election Commission of Pakistan will continue to make decisions in the best interest of the country under the Constitution and under oath without any pressure.

The statement came after PTI chairman Imran Khan accused Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja of being an agent of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and demanded his immediate resignation.

Imran’s close friends and advisers should ask him to control his mouth or else he will be in great problem in the coming days.

In a meeting with journalists at his Bani Gala residents he called ECP chairman planted by the establishment. His contradictory statements belittle him. It is interesting to note his party Shareen Mazari has welcomed the appointed of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The ECP has taken notice of allegations and requested PEMRA to provide recordings of his addresses. He will be in serious problem when the ECP legal team prepares a complaint against him. 

A common Pakistan like me thinks that the Foreign Funding cases have disturbed him wide because the judgement on this case can decide his future politics. If he has nothing to fear he must face the case and provide evidence in the court. 

I think PMLN is right in saying he wants to make ECP controversial ahead of the verdict.
