People usually spray perfume on their necks, wrists, and behind their ears. Unfortunately, it turns out that putting perfume on the skin in this way can hurt the skin’s health.

Perfumes can cause unsightly discoloration

A dermatologist says that putting perfume directly on the skin can make discoloration happen. It also says not to put perfume around your neck.

If we spray perfume in these areas, we can cause a disease called poikiloderma civetta.

Poikiloderma civetta is a red or brown spot that doesn’t look good. They are hard to get rid of. They can both be inherited and learned. Some of the lesions may have irritated hair follicles as a symptom. Even though these changes don’t pose a health risk, they are still ugly.

The main cause of poikiloderma is getting too much sun, which can happen if you use certain cosmetics or medicines that make you more sensitive to light. Some perfumes can make you more sensitive to light. Most of the time, the essential oils in perfumes are what cause an allergic reaction after using them. It’s interesting that both cheap and expensive scents can cause this reaction.

How do I remove the resulting discoloration?

Changes on the skin caused by the use of perfume can be removed with a laser. Prevention is also important.
