The disease has very annoying symptoms:

  • diarrhea  (watery, up to several times a day),
  • nausea and vomiting (in children, frequent vomiting, intense and frequent),
  • abdominal pain ,
  • bad mood,
  • fever ,
  • headaches .

For children up to 5 years of age and seniors, the disease can be dangerous because it quickly leads to dehydration . Symptoms of the stomach flu generally last about 3 days.

The stomach flu cannot be cured. The foundation is rest, keeping hydrated, and eating foods that is easy to digest. Time is your main ally during the infection; as time goes on, your health should get better. For a few days, symptoms might go away, but they should get better. Home remedies for stomach flu can hasten recovery, ease nausea and diarrhea, and enhance general health.

Drink plenty of fluids

The key to treating stomach flu is to drink plenty of fluids on a regular basis and in small amounts throughout the day. Dehydration could easily happen otherwise. You can deal with fever better if you stay properly hydrated.

Drink right away if you’ve just puked. Every few minutes, the child can be given a few teaspoons of rehydrating liquid purchased at the pharmacy. During gastroenteritis, plain water may not be well tolerated. Water should always be served warm, never hot or cold. Apple juice should not be consumed because it has a laxative effect.

Black tea

This is a remedy available almost always at home to help with the stomach flu. Choose good quality tea, without additives, aromas, dyes, etc.

Chamomile

A plant valued for its qualities is chamomile. It is effective for a number of illnesses, including stomach flu symptoms. Chamomile has a calming effect and helps with nausea and stomach pain. Prepare the infusion and sip it slowly after it has cooled.

Home isotonic

Electrolyte (potassium, sodium, magnesium) and glucose losses are a side effect of the stomach flu, which also causes vomiting and diarrhea. A homemade isotonic beverage can be consumed to make up some of the losses. Mix 500 ml of warm, boiled water, 1.5 tablespoons of honey, 1/2 lemon’s juice, and a dash of salt to make it. Additionally, ready-made electrolytes with a richer composition are available at the pharmacy.
