Experts from Cornell University have developed this compound, which has been named CLB073. This compound rapidly paralyzes and destroys the ‘Mycobacterium tuberculosis’ that causes TB.
Professors David Russell and William Kaplan of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Cornell University conducted this research. It is expected that human trials will be started very soon. Experts have considered after several experiments that CLB073 blocks the carbon path of bacteria. This is how tb bacteria begin to die.
Experts have also tested this compound on mice, after which the effectiveness of TB medicine was seen to increase. Among them is the prevalent method of treatment for NIXTB in which three medicines are given in combination. It is also expected to help increase the potency or effectiveness of medicines against TB.
A 25-member organization associated with TB Drug Accelerator is also active in the manufacture of this compound, including government agencies, scientists, universities, pharmaceutical companies and other companies. All parties meet twice a year and consider new ways of treatment against TB.
