The severity of the liver damage in cases of cirrhosis, among other things, influences the prognosis. Patients with compensated cirrhosis have a 47% chance of surviving for 10 years (assuming no significant problems arise). Unfortunately, many patients learn about the condition only after complications have occurred.
Cirrhosis prognosis can be predicted using the Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) scale, which includes indications including bilirubin, albumin, ascites, and others.
