A list of new political constituencies for Occupied Kashmir was released on Tuesday in which the Hindu population in the Muslim-majority areas has got a large representation and the way is being paved for new elections.

The Occupied Territories originally consisted of the Muslim-majority Valley of Kashmir, the Hindu-majority region of Jammu and the remote Buddhist enclave of Ladakh.

The government said that a delimitation commission has finalized 90 assembly constituencies in Occupied Kashmir, excluding Ladakh, with 43 reserved for Jammu and 47 for Kashmir, followed by 37 in Jammu and Kashmir Valley. There were 46 seats.

It is a controversial plan as the commission did not take into consideration the population based on 2011 census.

As the census Jammu’s population is 44% and Kashmir’s 56%. The commission gave more seats to Jammu relative to their population.

The report was rejected by the People’s Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir.

The National Conference said in a statement on Twitter that “any manipulation will not change the ground realities. Whenever there is an election, the voters will punish the BJP and its proxies for what they have done in the last four years.” What has happened with Jammu and Kashmir?

India condemns IIhan Omar’s visit to Pakistan Administered Kashmir. Calls her narrow-minded

Ilhan Abdullah Omar, a US congresswoman, has acknowledged that the issue of Kashmir is not being discussed in the US House of Representatives at the level it should be, but hoped that the situation will change.

Talking to local media in the Presidency of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Ilhan Abdullah Omar said, that purpose of the hearing in the House Foreign Relations Committee was to discuss the Narendra Modi administration’s anti-Muslim narrative and to discuss how this narrative leading to human rights abuses.

She hoped that her visit would pave the way for further discussions on Kashmir issue.

She further said that the condemnation, reservations and question of Kashmir issue of the people fighting for human rights would also be included in this hearing of the Foreign Affairs Committee..

The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir also drew the attention of Ilhan Abdullah Omar to the demographic engineering in Occupied Kashmir and said that India had issued fake domiciles in Kashmir to 4.2 million Indian Hindus to change the proportion of population in Occupied Kashmir.

“In the current context, there is an urgent need for the international community, especially the United States, to come forward and help resolve this long-running dispute between the two nuclear powers,” he said.

According to official sources, Ilhan Abdullah Omar was also given a tour of the Line of Control (LOC) in Chakoti sector where he was briefed before and after the recent reconciliation between Pakistani and Indian forces to honor the 2003 ceasefire agreement.

On the occasion of this visit, the residents affected by the Indian shelling also gathered there before the ceasefire and told their stories of horror to the guests.

India’s response to the visit

This is not the first time that US President Joe Biden’s Somali-American Alhan Abdullah Omar, a member of the Democratic Party, has drawn attention to India’s  human rights record.

In early April, she also questioned the US government’s alleged reluctance to criticize Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on human rights.

A few days after her remarks, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said Washington was monitoring the rise in human rights abuses in India by some government, police and prison officials.

It was during the visit of US Congresswoman Ilhan Abdullah Omar to Azad Jammu and Kashmir that India strongly condemned his visit.

According to Indian media reports, a spokesman for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said, “All I can say is that if such a politician wants to pursue his narrow-minded politics at home, it is her will.”

The Indian spokesman added, “But the violation of our territorial integrity and sovereignty connects us to this issue and we consider this visit is condemnable.”

The language of the spokesman should be condemned. India has already received a direct rebuke from Blinken on human rights abuses. She has a Congresswoman of the US not Pakistan. This offensive remark will not go well with the Biden Administration.

Demand for boycott of car maker Hyundai in India in support of Kashmiris : Tweet taken down

The campaign was launched in response to a post by the company’s Pakistani partner – Photo Facebook Hyundai

People in India have now launched a boycott campaign against the ‘Hyundai Motor Company’ on Twitter in response to a tweet by Hyundai’s Partner expressing solidarity with the people of Indian Kashmir.

The South Korean carmaker faced demands from angry Indians for a boycott of its cars as Kashmiris took to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts of Hyundai’s Pakistani partner Nishat Group on the annual Kashmir Solidarity Day in Pakistan.

Social media users in India have backed the boycott, saying Hyundai should apologize for being careless with the country’s official stance on the decades-old controversy.

Indians have threated to cancel orders of Hyundai cars. They are urging support for Indian brands such as Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.

The controversial tweet was later deleted from Hyundai Pakistan’s Twitter account.

The uproar caused by social media posts due to growing nationalism in India highlights the dangers facing international companies.

Responding to this strong response, Hyundai’s Indian unit said that insensitive talk is not tolerable for us and we strongly condemn any such ideology.

A message from Hyundai India’s official Twitter account said, “An unnecessary social media post linked to Hyundai Motor India is hurting our unparalleled commitment and service to this great country, a patriotic organization.” It is firmly committed to its policy.

Ashwini Mahajan, an official in the economic wing of the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Singh (RSS) group has demand a clarification company’s position on Kashmir.

He said that the Indian unit of Hyundai Global had talked innumerable about its affiliation with India but without criticizing Hyundai Pakistan he could not say that Kashmir is an integral part of India.

He asked whether this practice did not demand a boycott of India.

Shares of Hyundai fell 1.25% yesterday, weaker than Seoul’s benchmark index.

The main reason for the decline was concerns over the record number of Corona cases in South Korea, and concerns that a global decline in the chip could affect production and sales.
