Motorola Edge 30 Pro With Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC Launched in India

Motorola has used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC to provide processing power to the Motorola Edge 30 Pro in India.

This processor has been specially designed for 5G platform. It is a powerful processor. However, 5G is not available in India. Will the Indian smartphone users pay extra to use their phones in 4G platform?

Will X65 5G modem-RF System can utilize the full power of 4G network?

The processor has Qualcomm’s 7th Generation powerful AI Engine. This powerful engine will intelligently use the system resources for gaming, wellness, photography and productivity.

Processor’s 18-bit always on ISP take brilliant and stunning pictures with incredible color and clarity.

Motorola has used a 6.7-inch, full-HD+ OLED display. The display has a fast 144 refresh rate.

The front of the Motorola Edge 30 Pro sports a 6.7-inch, full-HD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is HDR10+ certified and also uses DC dimming.

It packs a 4,800mAh battery and supports 68W fast charging

Before I proceed, let’s discuss its price. Motorola has launched the Edge 30 Pro at Rs. 49,999 in India for the lone 8GB RAM, 128GB storage configuration.

This is currently Motorola’s most expensive smartphone in India, and it is clear that the Motorola Edge 30 Pro is an ambitious launch for the company. The Motorola Edge 30 Pro looks premium thanks to its glass sandwich design, but there is a catch. Motorola has used a plastic frame for the Edge 30 Pro, which seems out of place. Metal would have made the phone even heavier, though. At 196g, the Edge 30 Pro already has a noticeable heft.

Motorola has curved the sides of the rear glass which helps you grip the phone better. The camera module blends into the back panel and looks like it has melted on the sides. As a result, this device doesn’t rock about much when placed on a flat surface. The Motorola logo is placed in the centre on the back, and has a glossy finish that helps it stand out.

The Edge 30 Pro has a curved glass back which makes it comfortable to hold

The front of the Motorola Edge 30 Pro sports a 6.7-inch, full-HD+ OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is HDR10+ certified and also uses DC dimming.

The panel has thin borders and a small hole for the 60-megapixel selfie camera. This sensor resolution is among the highest I’ve seen on a smartphone yet for a front camera. Motorola has opted for Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on the front which is surprising since the back uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5. There are stereo speakers on the Edge 30 Pro, and the body is IP52 rated to resist light splashes of water.

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro’s fingerprint scanner is embedded into the power button on the right side. I found the position to be higher than ideal for my hands. I would have preferred an in-display fingerprint scanner since that’s the norm for flagship smartphones these days. The volume buttons are further up and require you to shuffle the phone around a bit in order to reach them.

You get Android 12 with Motorola’s My UX customisations on the Edge 30 Pro

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC powering the Edge 30 Pro is the most powerful smartphone SoC from Qualcomm yet. It will also be powering the Samsung Galaxy S22 Series in India. The Edge 30 Pro can work with 13 5G bands as well as 4G VoLTE. It houses a 4,800mAh battery, and supports 68W fast charging. Motorola has also bundled a 68W charger in the box.

During my short time with the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, it felt super responsive and the high display refresh rate made the overall experience feel fluid. You get Android 12 out of the box, with Motorola’s My UX customisations on top. The company also promises to update the phone till Android 14 which is decent, but is still not as good as the four-year commitment Samsung recently made for its Galaxy S22 series.

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro sports a triple camera setup at the back

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro has a triple camera setup with high-resolution sensors. The primary camera has a 50-megapixel sensor, OIS, and omni-directional PDAF. There’s also a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 114-degree field of view, and the third one is a 2-megapixel depth sensor. I am looking forward to putting these cameras to the test in the full review.

Motorola has launched the Edge 30 Pro priced at Rs. 49,999 in India. This will undercut the Samsung Galaxy S22 and also the iQoo 9 Pro by a big margin. The price is on par with that of the Asus ROG Phone 5s gaming smartphone, which is powered by last year’s Snapdragon 888+. Those looking for the best performance at a reasonable price should find the Edge 30 Pro quite promising, and from what I can tell, Motorola hasn’t cut too many corners. However, I’ll know for sure once I’m done testing the gaming performance, cameras, and software. I’ll also be seeing how well the battery holds up with regular use in the full review, so stay tuned to Gadgets 360.

Motorola ready to launch its first phone with 200 megapixel camera

This is not a new phone but a Moto Edge X30 – photo courtesy of Motorola

Motorola is all set to introduce a 200-megapixel camera for the first time in its new flagship smartphone.

According to a new leak , Motorola is working on a new flagship phone, codenamed Frontier.

Some of the features of this new phone will be taken from the company’s new phone Edge X30 but some will be new and impressive.

Motorola’s flagship phone will have a 6.67-inch elbow display with FHD Plus resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate support.

The phone is expected to be powered by TSMC’s 4NM processor instead of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Generation 1, possibly to avoid production issues.

The phone will have 8 to 12 GB RAM and 128 to 256 GB storage.

But the highlight of the phone will be the main camera of the back camera setup which will be equipped with Samsung’s 200 megapixel sensor along with 50 megapixel Ultra Wide and 12 megapixel telephoto cameras.

On the front of the phone is a 60 megapixel selfie camera like the Edge X30.

According to the leak, this will be Motorola’s first phone to have 125 watt fast charging support with battery while 50 watt wireless charging support will also be a part of the device.

Motorola introduces new smartphone Moto G Power (2022)

Moto G Power 2022 – Photo courtesy of Motorola

Motorola has introduced the first improved power model of the Moto G series.

The Moto G Power (2022) features a 6.5-inch display with 720p resolution and 90 Hz refresh rate. People should be not be disappointed with this resolution. They must know that true high-definition starts at 720p. Most TV channels across the globe broadcast at this resolution.  Remember it is a budget smartphone. It has a 270 ppi.

Your video will look crisp and sharp. A normal mobile phone user does not need high definition screen. He needs a screen where he can watch his videos shared by his friends or news clips on social media.

A special feature of the phone is its 5000 mAh battery which Motorola claims can be used continuously for 3 days.

The battery comes with 10 watt fast charging support while the Android 11 operating system is part of the phone. I think 10 watt fast charging support is enough for normal smartphones users.

Motorola has used s MediaTek’s Octa Core Helio G37 processor. The details of this chipset was not found at MediaTek’s website. GPU information is also not available at the momemt. Was it specially designed for Motorala for their low end devices.?

The Moto G Power comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 to 128 GB storage options, which can be expanded up to 512 GB with a microSD slot.

IP 52 water proofing and fingerprint sensor are other prominent features.

According to the company, the rear camera setup has been improved.

The Moto G Power features a 50-megapixel main camera, which the company claims performs significantly better in low light.

It comes with a 2-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel depth camera as part of the device, and an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front.

Video can be recorded from Motorola’s dual capture feature front and back cameras.

The phone will be available to consumers in the coming weeks, with the 64GB storage model for $200(over 35,000 Pakistani rupees) and the 128GB storage version for 250 dollars (over 43,000 Pakistani rupees). ۔

Motorola will offer one major software upgrade and two future updates. I think it is a attractive offer.

Motorola introduces another low priced smartphone Moto E40

Motorola has introduced a new entry level smartphone Moto E40.

According to the company, this low-cost smartphone is for consumers from all walks of life. The powerful main camera, depth and macro camera will attract people from low income people.  Most of entry level smartphones comes with 13MP cameras. Motorola has given 48MP, which will definitely attract buyers.

The phone has a 6.5 inch IPS LCD display with 90 Hz refresh rate support. The resolution of the screen is 720×1600 pixels. It means it will offer you HD+ resolution.

Inside the Moto E40 is a UnisoCT700 processor with a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back. This is basically an entry level octa core SoC. It features two fast ARM cores and six power efficient cores. This is manufactured at TSMC in 12nm FinFET.

Motorola has used a mid-range graphics card for ARM based SoCs. The good thing is that this GPU supports all modern graphics APIs. The core speed is 950MHz. The maker of this chip says it offer good performance and energy efficient.

The phone is equipped with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage which can be further expanded with a microSD card.

The Android 11 operating system is integrated with the company’s MyUX user interface.

A special feature of the phone is the large 5000 mAh battery and according to the company, the users have been able to use this phone for 2 days using it in moderation.

The Moto E40 has a setup of 3 cameras on the back.

The phone has a 48-megapixel main camera with a 2-megapixel macro and a 2-megapixel depth sensor camera.

Motorola has introduced the phone, but so far nothing has been said about its price and availability.

Looking for an affordable smartphone?

Motorola Moto E20 has recently launched an affordable phone for smartphone user.  This new phone from Lenovo-owned company has a basic hardware and will be ideal for low-income people in Pakistan too.

The smartphone features an HD+ display and a Unisoc SoC.  Unisoc T606 is basically entry level CPU. It is basically on DynamIQ’s new generation architecture using 12 nm technology. T606 features image engine developed by Unisoc. It is basically 3-core ISP image signal processor.

Market reports say that the sale of Unisoc powered smartphones have soared.

Motorola Moto E20 specifications

The phone will come with 6.5-inch Max Vision HD+ (720×1,600 pixels) display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 60Hz refresh rate. This screen lets you see incredibly vivid details. The 13-megapixel camera will let you capture brilliant photos. The display offers

Motorola Moto E20 is powered by Android 11 (Go edition). a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 60Hz refresh rate.

It comes with a dual rear camera setup that has a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/2.2 lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There is also a a 5-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front, with an f/2.2 lens.

Motorola Moto E20 will come with 32GB of onboard storage. I think this is enough for common users who basically use smartphones for call and accessing internet. Connectivity options are said to include 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back and a dedicated button to activate Google Assistant, says the report. Further, the phone is said to have an IP52 certification for dust and water resistance.

The Motorola Moto E20 battery will have 4,000mAh with supports for 10W charging. Besides, the phone measures 164.8×75.5×8.5mm and weighs 184 grams. I think this battery is enough for people. People are still using a lot brands with 4000mAh and very happy with the battery time offered.
